Celebrating Henry Lowther at 70
Henry Lowther is one of the unique and irreplaceable figures of British music. The next few months give us all the opportunity to celebrate the directness of his playing, the fluency with which he communicates ideas, the powerful musical presence.
- He will be seventy in July
- The Vortex will have a special celebration on the day before his birthday, July 10th.
- The Royal Academy of Music is awarding him an Honorary Fellowship at the beginning of May.
And if you want to celebrate here and now, just go onto Spotify and listen to his Sound of Music album from 2010. Go for Nica's Dream (I prefer to hear Henry unmuted). And then buy the album.
