Welcome back E17 Jazz Wednesdays
If there is one piece of news this week which I know would have made John Dankworth proud, it would be to know that jazz is alive and well in the 'Stow, E17, where he came from.
The indomitable group of local resident musicians E17 Jazz have got their mojo (and more importantly their gig) back. E17 Jazz is a non-profit organization, devoted to high quality original music and to "engage with other local arts groups to further stimulate creative activity in the borough." It is the sort of activity which people who witter on endlessly about "The Arts," - check out an article which uses the phrase a staggering EIGHTY SEVEN TIMES- ought to engage with. Yah.
A new life, then, which kicks off tomorrow night, Wednesday 6th April at 8.30 with pianist Naadia Sheriff (MC and bandleader for Kate Dimbleby) followed by a Jam session.
